Good video, Draken.
LaGG-3 is difficult to fly and survive.

I remember that fight, he started with a bit of altitude advantage, and was pretty good about boom-and-zooming me. Unfortunately, the LaGG retains energy like a stone with wings, so I was able to eventually reverse, but some rounds came pretty close to getting me, and the LaGG has pretty strong armament

The LaGG is also close to invulnerable if you try to chase him with a 109F-2

I recall the story from the memoirs of one VVS veteran who flew (and hated) LaGG-3 in 1942. His regiment commander was a skilled fighter pilot with experience in China (or Spain, I don't remember exactly). They were "upgraded" to LaGG-3 from I-16s and in the first encounter with Bf 109s, the commander went vertical after the head-on attack and stalled. His aircraft was hit by a 109's cannon and exploded, the pilot didn't survive. Those who lived longer learned the lesson and were happy to switch to Yak-1 later.
