P-61 Radar?

Hi all,
As a fan of the P-61, I realized that the second seat in the aircraft is a 360 degree radar screen which... isn't exactly realistic, but it left me wondering; does the P-61 radar actually work like the Bf 110 in BAT or is it purely just for show?
