Hi to all you jet pilots and cold warriors!
I am really happy to present you the
Cold War version of my Baltic Sea map!
The map is mostly similar to to the WW2 version, that some of you may know.
The map was tested on
HSFX 7.0.3,
BAT 4.3 and
Ultrapack so far.
To use it in Ultrapack you have to add the three static objects, that come with the download.
THIS map now brings you 43 modern jet fighter airbases, that are -as usual :-)- all handmade, following plans, photos and descriptions of the original ones.
The old airfields had been removed, but sometimes a few remains can be found by lovers of lost places... :-D
Some objects also had been removed, as the JetEra module had some trouble with them.
original: JTW
A few notes concerning the JTW3 module:
As it is known to you, some of the JetEra aircrafts are a little ... unruly. So it was not that easy to test the airbases with all desired planes.
But thanks to the efforts of E69_Haukka and theOden I can say, that all bases can handle F-14 or SU-24 sized planes and some even can handle Vickers VC-10 sized planes!
There is also an effect I never noticed before, because I never built and used such long runways.
Starting AI planes may not spawn at the opposite runaway marker as you know it, but only 1000m away from the take off waypoint. This may cause, that heavy aircraft won't make it into the air before the end of the runway.
This, I guess, is caused by too long runways and can be seen in some other maps of that era.
But help is allready implemented! As the mission creators of you know, BAT offers the taxi-to-take-off function and with that, you can evade the problem.
I wish you a lot of fun with the "new" map:

With this map I say goodbye to the shimmering world of map building!!
And also a warm welcome to just flying my favourite video game!
