Would IL-2 work on a steam deck?
Theoretically yes, with abysmal performance.
Steam Deck uses SteamOS, an Arch Linux distro.
Windows apps can be made to run in a Proton based emulation.
Wine seems to be a bit hard to operate, ProtonUp-QT might work better.
All of this doesn't tell you anything?
Then you'd better stick to a standard Windows PC to play Windows games.
