Weapon anomaly causes plane to speed up - well not so much...

I have been running BAT for years and now at 4.3 Danger Zone with no mods currently activated and it runs well at 37 avg fps in The Black Death track.  I tried some ground attack in an IL-2 (S1) and found that firing the machine guns causes the plane to speed up and seemingly advance time x2 or x4 (like a frame rate drop) even though the frame rate stays above 40 fps. Firing the cannons causes a slight decrease in speed as would be expected and no weird x2 or x4 visual sensation.  This speed increase with machine guns also happens in level flight as indicated by the hud instruments. In a dive it is much worse and prevents effective ground attacks. I tried a Spitfire Mk V in the same Single (WAW) mission and this did not happen.  I am willing to do more testing but I don't know where to proceed.

I've come to the conclusion that there was no plane speed increase - duh!  It was simply frame rate stutter while firing the mg.  I would have thought that the instantaneous fps would have better shown a drop yet it stayed above 30 fps.  Evidently it's kind of hard for me to maintain a constant plane speed at effectively 2x or 4x while flying and firing weapons!  I tried the same IL-2 (S1) in V4.12.2m SAS Modactivator 5.30 (VP mod?) and did not have the same stutter.  The difference apparently is that BAT 4.3 has bright green tracers in the IL-2 (S1) and the former does not.  The Spitfire Mk V also does not have such tracers so it also did not produce the stutter.  I don't notice stuttering or low fps in most missions except of course if there are too many planes firing at once or the town below has too many buildings.

1) Is this mg tracer stutter more related to the CPU (I-7 3770 3.4GHZ) or the GPU (RX580 8gb)?  I also have SSD and 16gb ram and almost always find BAT to be very playable at perfect settings.
2) Without mods, is there any control in BAT 4.3 over tracers in individual planes?
3) I have WXTech effects 1.6 (currently disabled).  Does it have a way to affect tracers on the IL-2 that would help me?
4) I have tried to reduce some of the maxed out OpenGL settings in the conf.ini but didn't see any improvement with this issue.  Same with the AMD Adrenaline settings.
5) I accept that IL-2 1946 is limited to 32 bits and mostly a single core.  But would I see improvement with this particular issue with a newer CPU and/or GPU?

You could also try to modify the priority of the il2fb.exe processing when you are in game .
Switch to desktop with the " Windows " key , then open the task manager , find the il2fb task , and set its priority to " high "  ( by default it is only " medium " ) .

I have had this happen before while editing gun classes. If it is truly the same error as I was getting, it is not related to conf.ini settings or effects mods. It is an error in the gun classfile.

So what in the gun classfile causes this? What's the fix? ... I don't know... it was so many years ago (5 to 8) that I have long since forgotten what specifically causes it.

Thanks Draken.  I may try this for this specific issue.  But I did a number of tests with the ProcessAffinityMask in the conf.ini and the process priority in Win10 task manager.  In addition to limiting as much as possible in Win10 startup I set VoiceAttack and OpenTrack, two additions that really add immersion for me, to run on one processor at normal priority and IL2fb.exe to run on the remaining processors at high priority (even though it is evidently timing bound to a single processor). And I was using Storebror's helpful utility to calculate different mask numbers.  In the end, as many have concluded, my best frame rate in The Black Death track came when commenting out ProcessAffinityMask and letting Win10 set priority and processors.

FL2070 : If there is no way to identify the class file I guess I just need to use an older/different version of Il-2 1946 when flying the namesake Il-2 and its variants.  I got interested in the IL-2 plane after using TheBlackDeath track to test my frame rate and compare it to others who have posted.  I was amazed in this track how effective the Il-2 could be against convoys and reminded me of the modern A-10.

I am still interested in whether hardware upgrades beyond my i7-3770 3.4ghz and RX580 8gb can materially improve this wonderful old game flight simulation.

I am also very interested in the NG-SE and NG-USM sound mods you have shared.  I'll be posting questions in the appropriate sound mod section.
