Short tours
« on: February 23, 2025, 06:12:25 PM »

Hi fellow enthusiasts.

I have been researching some of the more obscure assignments where flights were sent for brief periods to reinforce air units or cover ground forces where facilities are restricted. Von and I will create what we call Short Tours of about ten missions for those who like to complete a campaign in one session. These will be based on historic events as far as the sim allows. We will of course continue to provide you with longer campaigns as well, health and time permitting.

The first Short Tour is for 7 Squadron SAAF based at Kos during the Allied invasion of the Dodecanese Islands in 1943. It should be available at Mission4Today shortly.

Forthcoming Short Tours will be the Polish Fighter Flight in Tunisia, and the Fulmars of 805 Squadron in Crete.

The longer campaigns this year should be a Ki61 campaign 1943 to 1945, a Slovak campaign, and a Croat campaign with hopefully more to come.

Thank you for the feedback. It makes the work preparing these worthwhile.

Sounds good to me, any fighter campaign for the allies I'll be snapping up.

Short missions/campaigns are very welcome. They are convenient.
Due to a lack of time, I postponed or interrupted playing a long campaign by reputable creators more than once.
Feeling guilty!  :(

Agreed Dimlee. The shorter format also lets us highlight some important historical incidents that might be lost in a 50-80 mission campaign.

But rest assured that we will continue to make long campaigns, and we hereby absolve you from all guilt if you are unable to finish.

A very fine idea!

I think both long and short campaigns have their place, but I confess that when I do have time to fly one it’s often a bit shorter one.

Really long ones, like mine ”Years of Triumph” or ”Raging Eagles”, are more of the Mount Everests of this hobby - nice to look at but demanding one hell of an effort and skill to persevere over!  :D

I still have plenty of unfinished campaigns piling up on my drives but It don't really matters is always fun to go back and fly a couple of missions. Short tours is an excellent idea my favorite size is around 10-15 missions
