Multiplay - spawn inside the hangar. How to change?
« on: March 05, 2025, 11:34:02 AM »

Probably, this is typical for any multiplayer. But I play only UP now, so I put it here.

I created the mission and tested it in the multiplayer.

In one of the bases, I spawn inside the hangar. It's nice for the "immersion". But it's almost impossible to taxi out of that hangar in a large aircraft as a B-24 or a C-46. What can be an interesting challenge for offline training will be very annoying for a gamer in multiplayer, especially if aircraft limitations are implemented.

This is a "normal" home base, not a standalone home base, therefore Spawn Placeholder can not be used.

I also recall this issue in some missions on SAS server. Multi-engine aircraft in a blast pen that is too small. Spawn and crash.

Question: Is it possible to move the spawn places out of their initial places on the maps in FMB?

P.S. I noticed that if I enable "Show map spawn places" in MDS Settings, I can move the spawn place symbols (B-24 aircraft) around the airfield. (The trick is to place another object near the "B-24" and select them together). But this change is not saved. Once the mission file is reopened, spawn places are back where they were.

Hi Dimlee,

if it is a dogfight mission, you could install stationary aircraft (not every type is available) and use them as a spawn place.
The settings for that are in the Home base itself.

(I once send you a tutorial for a kind of rearm repair refuel, where you can find the settings explained.

The trick is to place down a standalone homebase instead of a normal homebase. Then, you can use the spawn placeholder object (it has its own section in the object selection) to designate spawnpoints.

if it is a dogfight mission, you could install stationary aircraft (not every type is available) and use them as a spawn place.

This feature isn't available in UltraPack.

Seppel, thanks. I do remember and appreciate that RRR solution. Hopefully, I'll use it in BAT.

Thank you.
It seems to be the only solution for now. It's not difficult; it just requires reminding oneself to mind those treacherous hangars.
