Bloch MB-152C1 from GCI/8,2eme Escadrille,1940
« on: March 26, 2025, 06:15:26 AM »

Hello to all!

It seems that leaving the French planes is not easy, so I made another skinpack of 11 skins for the GC I/8 2eme Escadrille and one skin for the 1ere Escadrille. They are semi-historical, the registrations are historical, the camouflage scheme and colors are more or less historical. I hope you don't throw stones at me, because I couldn't get any further... :P

P.S.:I read that when planes were registered at the fighter unit and they didn't have the serial numbers on the rudder or fuselage, the mechanics would write the serial numbers on the fuselage with chalk. That's why I made some skins with such inscriptions.

All the best!

Thank you very much for the appreciation, it really warms my heart! And I'm glad I made these skins too. Now I'm studying Dornier Do-17, I hope to make it pretty nice. I wish you all good health and peace in the world! Even if it sounds utopian...

... many THX for these exquisite skins, amigo, and also for the historical detail about serial numbers sometimes written with chalk ...!  ;)

Now, after so many French skins, we are all eager to see what you'll do with Do-17 skins ...! 8)

Thanks !
Nice work !
It seems that the blue color of french planes camo was specific .
Did it have a specific name ?
( Like " cobalt blue "
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobalt_blue )

or Methylene Blue
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylene_blue ) ?

Hello,Draken!
I have changed the blue color on the tricolor several times, because it is indeed a different blue, but not cobalt. I would say a blue like the sky with a slight gray-green tint. But there is a photo of a contorted tail of an MB-152, on which you can still see the blue.I guess the original blue was a bit darker, but time has passed on it...But in the end, it depends on each person's eye. It's the same problem with the colors that were used for camouflage. They were standard: khaki, brown, dark blue gray and light blue gray. And yet they were not the same, because pigments were used to experiment with shades. So the colors (shades) are interpretable.

As far as I know, the blue on the World War II cockade was lighter than the current one.

Here it's better visible because you also have the light blue on the dot with the tactical number in contrast.
