yeah 7k poly is hardly anything, it shouldn't be loading your system avalon... Models with twice as many polys are already being used by default il2 planes.

Ok, finally sorted out the external view.  You need to be in the right hand seat for it to activate. Not sure if you need door/cockpit open but it works in much the same way the naval 109 and Stuka does.  You offset the sight and open canopy so the seat raised position works.

Takes me a while but I do eventually catch up. :-[

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Well I finally did it. Whole flight ops cycle from CV. I took off from the deck and set the mission to have Cougars appear, on deck, 5 min later.
Plenty of time to warm up, takeoff and get into position off the port side. Watched the launch, then practiced hovering and gentle maneuvers while waiting for their return. About 10 min later, watched the the ship recover a/c. Landed the helo, shut down. Secure from flight ops.
This is some swell bird! Thanx a lot.

Can it be made more resistant to machine guns? helos are always described as being able to take hits well, but in game you take one machine gun round from a hanomag and you explode! other than that it is F-ing awesome! Also this now means that the SAS aircraft page will now need a helo section!

after a successful virgin test flight and landing with this helo, i then promptly went and launched her from a carrier catapult, and she handled it really well - top speed in a flash!  8) ;D
absolutely brilliant! well done, Flak!  8)

alright, but I still think it would be better to lose the engine easily rather than just explode.

Mission Bug

Thanks mate followed your advice and got 'raised seat' and open door working. It would appear like you said that you have to be in the Right Hand seat, then 'open canopy' and finally 'raise seat' to lean out. like f22 Raptor mentioned once operated the open canopy i think is disabled for a while.

cheers all

 :D

Back on the topic of learning how to control the beast, formation flying seems good practice:

Behind, to the right, in 'head out' view seems easiest:

It mostly comes down to smooth flying, and very small movements of the collective/throttle.

Though multi-chopper AI flights seem to end up in disaster, a single AI chopper going about 100 Km/h seems stable enough - set one up in the FMB to overfly your chopper, allowing a few minutes to get airborne - then see how close you can formate...
