@KEBEN01: no problem, these kinda things happen to all of us.  ;D

@Aragorn1963: 't Is niet te geloven!  :o  I've never seen so many Dutch members around since the release of this plane. I thought I was more or less the only one.

FM update
« Reply #171 on: August 22, 2010, 03:20:52 PM »

I tried to fix the speed issue and this is the result (the image has full resolution, but forum scales it down):

Red curves are data generated by InfoMOD from old FM in v6.3 buttons and blue curves data from new FM in v6.4 buttons.

I hope the FM update makes fighting in the great Fokker G.1 more enjoyable experience for you all.

much better now.
One question cocncerning datas. How is one supposed to test aircraft?
1.Fully loaded primary weapons (MGs,cannons)+tank filled up 100%  ?
2.Empty primary weapons+tank filled max 25%   ?

cause only with 2nd setting I can lets say reach +/- values taht should be there.
3.Which map to use to test?

Other point is,that I found out Fokker to be stallproof. No way to stall it in any conditions, where other "known-as-stable" aircrafts would spin around.Should it be like that?.I suspect not.Can it be revised and corrected?

thanks

I generated the data and confirmed it in test flights with 100% fuel and default loadout with guns loaded. Map was Smolensk, clear weather at noon.

I also know that no-stall behaviour, and I think it is caused by weak elevator control. I didn't change those parameters yet because I don't know how agile and stable real G.1 should be. If someone finds some references for flight behaviour and stall characteristic, I could try to adjust those to better represent the real plane. If I just give so strong elevator control that spins are possible, then we can perhaps make unrealistically tight high-G turns.

I just got around to test fly a bit, and the speeds are much closer to what is was, thanks! I can't find any good data on stall and turn speeds at the moment, but will keep looking.

meanwhile, this may provide some info? http://www.fokker-g1.nl/images/temps/w+b%20PRATTWHITNEY1340-ENG.pdf

It's a comparison of the original plane to a modern flying replica.

I recalculated elevator and rudder areas and arms from drawing, and found out that elevator was a bit smaller and rudders significantly larger than real ones. Now I have made a FM that has fighter-like control sensitivity and can fly at edge of stall. I gave enough rudder control to clear take-off well, I adjusted roll rate to similar values than in a video of real rolling G.1 and I adjusted elevator sensitivity so that you can use all lift available in mediun speeds, but won't get enough G to black out. Fokker G.1 is still quite stable with pretty large wings and light weight, but now you can now lose control if you try stupid maneuvers. Spin recovery is still easy thanks to light wing loading, but now you can maneuver this fighter up to her limits because I expect that fighter planes are designed so that you can push them to limits when needed.
