Hey Bombsaway,

Are you running Frog's Formation mod? If so rename it with a prefix "01_" so your minimap loads first. It worked for me in HSFX.

Thanks Badmuthafunker, I'll try that. I had just started to post that I found that Frogs formation mod casued a 70% crash when loading the minimap. I tried a + in front but the game would load but the minimap would not function correctly. Then as I was about to post the SAS went down. :)

Edit: That did the trick Badmuthafunker. Thank you. 8)

Dear All,
                 Frog has told me about this problem and we are going to make a version of the Minimap 2.x MOD compatible with his Formation MOD, because the workaround pointed by you here, make unavailable the new icons required by Formation MOD to show in the map everything required.

Thanks for replies both, yeah you are both right. On doing a bit of thinking, we can use what we have to simulate the things i requested. For example you could limit yourself to looking at the navigation map to once every half hour or similar, and then only for a brief moment to find your position.

Also you could use the relative mode map to give an idea of friend or foe to simulate serrate emissions.

P.s just a quick thought would it be possible to have the waypoints and flight lines show on the navigation mode map, but no player white plane icon? maybe as an option?

Wow!! I have wanted to play nightfighter missions with working radar like this for years.... thanks you for making this  :D
The other setting are great too. Big improvement to the game. I salute you ;D

Heres some updated textures for the Radar frames. I was asked to upload so y'all can decide what textures you like best. Just extract to mods folder. Its all the same just new textures

A little update from my end.

Pablo really is a very nice guy. We were discussing ways of merging this wonderful mod of his with MDS. I also like it and since he was good enough to even share his source I started porting this. For MDS v1.2, naturally. Anyhow, first three modes will be using MDS logic behind the scenes (radar and that crap), modes 4, 5 (two radar ones) and 6 (debug) will be using Pablos calculations. I think this is a good solution and even adds to whole picture a bit since you will have a chance to "track" planes in modes 4/5 in case you loose all radar capabilities in MDS mode. At least I think that modes 4 and 5 are working in relations to player aircraft position. Pablo, please correct me if I am wrong here.

Anyhow, just to inform you since I saw that over here also few MDS users are located :)

Yes Zuti,

                      the two Radar Modes are "fully relative" because they translate the 3 axis coordinates of every actor (plane, ship, etc.), to the 0,0,0 reference of own plane considering the twists in the 3 axis too. Mode 2 (relative view), is as the standard minimap, but it only converts position in a 2 dimensional way, without paying attention to altitude, and only using the angle on Z (azimut), to translate the coordinates.

Great MOD!!!

On the Radar modes..  If you want to use correct USAF terminology  Its 'MAP' for your radial mode and and 'B-Sweep'  for your 'Frontal' mode..
