Since adding tailhook to A6M8 is still kinda beyond me, the N1K3-A is the next best thing for a short-range complement to the long-range A7M.

great job milvipes BUT: when I tried the carrier take off training mission #2 in the A6M5 stock mission set, the plane explodes on spawn where it spawns in a group of 4 planes;
in training mission #1 it spawns singly and there it works...guess this has something to do with the modified class file....
The N13K-A as is may not be suitable for all carriers due to spawn point characteristic.

actually it must be linked to your new classfile, because with the original one, the plane spawns but cannot take off, due to its slow acceleration as you have identified correctly....
with the new classfiles, the planes explode on spawn... same plane, same mission, same carrier, same setup, difference is your modified classfile...

Odd, I encountered no such problem when  tried it out.

I can send you the mission...
Maybe we use different Engine Mod versions?
Mine is stock as shipped with BAT ....

A whole new solution, with customized FM, just overwrite the files when prompted.

Please do so, but do remember it depends on the whim of my wife. ]notworthy[

just wanted to let you know that one problem is solved, the other I still have ... the plane spawns now correctly on the deck in a group of planes - so no more exploding Shidens after spawning - but acceleration is still to slow to properly take off a carrier cruising at less than 30 knots...

Updated

Tested on Tainan cutout pack (NOT the N1K Shiden cutout).
Note: works for N1K3A only, as that's the only ship-borne version. All others will crash and swim.
For it to work, you MUST drop the attached class file (8E48C4166E9A8620) into the Tainan folder and overwrite the existing file with the same name. Some of you have the weird habit of dropping the whole downloaded folder directly into the MOD folder: this FM doesn't work like this, you must overwrite the old file.
You need a clean download of Tainan cutout before applying this fix.

You're most welcome.
BTW, Mad026's N1K cut out is missing this file (73354DFE277D2C0E) from Tainan. It enables the 20mm cannons of N1K; without it, it will result in 70% CTD.
I just tried my DiffFM on the N1K cut out, and it works just as well.
