Hmmm .... the scale is 1:1 ... but in Il-2 it means that 1 pixel = 50meters. I'm not 100% sure how that translate into numbers as you're asking, but I do think this is given to be the preferable scale in kevins map tutorial.

Hi Agracier and thks for answering first!
Then, I took a look to Kevin's tutorial and sure I found it's to be assumed that 1pixel should be equal to 50mt but, practically speaking, this does not answers to the simple question: how can I count the pixels? do they depend on the native resol of a screen?how large is in km a map (your in this case obviously...) at the end of the day? (and consequently how large a square?) If I may suggest, because not all the maps are of the same size, why you map creators do not put this simple figure in your maps?
Sorry to bother and thks again for what you do for us simple simmers...
Best regards, Gianluca

Goodness me, but I do used to utterly hate, loathe and despise mathematics of any kind when in school ... I'm sure many others did too ... I can't have been the only one ...ha ha

Anyway, which squares are you referring to? Do you mean a pixel? I didn't put any squares on the map.

But I can say that the whole map is around 121 km wide by 108 km high.

You can find the dimensions of any 1:1 map by taking height and width, multiplying by 200 and then putting in 3 decimal places. And then, for extra good measure, go to Google maps and enter several place names that are on opposing map edges and see how it corresponds to your calculations ... if the distances between opposing cities/towns are in the ballpark then you've probably gotten it right.

If however the map was made to other scales, say 1 pixel = 100m or 1 pixel = 75m or anything else, then you'll have to ask someone more comfortable doing equations. I'm not your man for this.

As for counting pixels - put any of the followings maps into a graphics editor and then call up the info. In PSP7 you can call up info by using <shift>+I.

Map_t / map_h / map_f / ed_m02
Then use the multiply by 200 thing ...

No bother at all ... now that i no longer have to go to school it's good to able to give my opinion of mathematics ... ha ha.

And the 'hate loathe and despise' is a quote from a classic movie - it's Dorothy Lamour's line in 'Road to Rio' ...

agracier,

I finally installed and took a tour of this map. I love the detail you put into it. It's fabulous work! Thank you for the Aragon Front and another great place to fly my P-26!

Cheers,

Well, this was an area that I know rather well, from visiting there for over 25 years on ... not that aren't surprises, like finding out a few years ago that there are still trenches and bunkers and such things in many places. But overall it was easier to populate when you know what things are like on the ground.

In a short while there will be a companion map for Aragon - the Madrid area.

Full kudos to agracier! I had some unknown probs yesterday to run a mission in this map (+didn't really get what the static.ini checker needed to find what I searched lol) and kind of gave up on the objects I missed..but the textures and the screenshots here and those in the new Madrid map thread look awesome. Uufflakke's house art is also simply amazing!
Keep up the good work!  :)

Tom

PS:
Just one question for the future:
One of the object packs listed was the fabianfred mods (trees) mod.
Fabianfred's mod pack comes a.o. with one big static.ini file.
Also the Olive Tree mod has a static.ini text-addition.
Fabianfred's tree mod-as I understand it-adds some files in the same folder (Tree Textures) of the olive Tree mod-since they are both named "Tree Textures"
Do I need to add additional static.ini parts for the fabianfred tree mod and if yes which part of his static.ini would that bee?
Thanks!

If you have Fabianfreds big static.ini additions file, and if it already contains the entries Olive Tree mod, then that should be enough. But you never know with objects.

I know that some members require an additional entry for the Olive trees, others don't.

From my own experience with new objects, I always install whatever new comes out. Even if it isn't used in a map yet.
