Hello Silverback,

wise advice!

I fly with an old middleclass-videocard since many years - effects=2 - and never had a problem!

Hi everyone!

I have two technical problems, which I don't understand and I hope, this is the place to go for help.

First thing is: I realized, that there are no shadows from buildings in my game!?
I find out so far, that it must be a problem with the game itself, as it appears .. or disappears ( :) ) in all maps.
A modded map (Baltic_Sea), that is currently tested by a friend shows shadows on is computer, but did not so on mine.

The second thing is the projection of trees.
I learned, that the forest=3 setting turns the object trees ("Row of trees") into the more detailied bushy trees, that you can find on the field textures, which looks quiet amazing for me.
But in the Silesia-Map, created by me, the effect is, that all those trees disappear?

Can anyone help?

Cheers, Seppel

Not all buildings have a shadow... that would be too simple!

You mean that shadows are "blinking"?
That's weird!
But then you have alarms in your LOG!
Without your LOG and Conf.ini, it is difficult to see into my crystal ball!

- Read how to get the log here, and the instant log here (Except for BAT which contains InstantLog).

- When you want to post only the relevant parts from the log
read here how to do this. (code option!)

- If you want to post all lines of the logfile we suggest to use https://pastebin.com/
to paste your log and then paste the link here which you got from them.
Read and see here how to do this.

Note: It is preferable to provide the LOG in its entirety!

Forest=3 renders certain tree rows invisible (but you still collide with them).
That's a known issue since day one of IL-2 and it'd be TDs duty to fix it.

Absolutely with Forest=3 you have two kind of problems invisible tree that you collide with  :( and visible trees that you can happily go through  :P and both of them have the nice habit of  sprouting where you less expect them  :D

So you mean it's a matter of object type?!

It's a matter of the core game engine and how it deals with certain objects.
Forest=3 is screwed up, matter of fact.

I don't understand that!

I just checked an old work file for the Silesia Map.
Same objecttype like my Baltic_Map or my Eastern Frisia Maß : #6 "Furnitue" -> "RowOfTrees"

It works in the other maps, but nut in Silesia.

No, there aren't blinking. They are not there!

Sorry for asking but:
I followed the first step and  changed the conf.ini.
But WHERE can I find the relevant log file.
Is it the logfile.txt file?

Hi!

Still about the tree problem:

And it's still weird.
In the village and towns actors files it works! On Forest=3 the RowOfTrees is beautiful bushy.
But in the airfield actors files it DOESN'T work!?!?

So after merging together the files, ALL trees are gone again!

Do you have any idea with that?
Please help!

Can't follow what you've said.
Do you have an example map/mission so we can see what you see?

Sorry! Maybe my English comes to a limit here :-)

It's all about my Silesia map.

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,43434.0.html

So, as you know, when the forest in the conf.ini is set to 3, the Object called "RowOfTrees" changes into that bushy graphic, that looks a lot better (to me) than the object as it is given from the game.

For working on the map, I have different actors-files, as they would be too big (and cause problems in the MapEditor) if everything was in one file.
For example:

The problem is, that in all actors-files the forest=3 effect works:

picture from MapEditor

picture from the game

Only in one file (the file with the airfields) the forest=3 effect doesn't work. Here the trees disappear.

All the trees in the different actors-files are the same.

When I put the different actors-files together to the final one, the negative effect influences the whole map and the trees disappear.

I only have this problem with this specific map. The maps that comes with the game or other self made maps work just fine.
